WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR BOSTON NEWBORN SESSION

Hi I’m Kerry, newborn photographer who serves Boston and beyond. I am based out of Worcester and travel anywhere from Worcester to Boston for in home newborn sessions. In home Boston newborn sessions are relaxed and fun, you can be completely YOU! In fact that’s the biggest requirement for the day and the only thing I expect from you; just to be relaxed and be yourself! During an in home session we move around your home using your living areas and the baby’s nursery. We will capture what’s around us and set the mood for the photographs as much as I can. I may also move things around to capture the best shots.

This is such a special time in your family’s life. As a Boston newborn photographer I am trained in capturing all the emotions and special moments. I want you to know that I will help guide you through the session and we let your baby run the show. If your baby cries, it’s okay! I promise! If your baby needs a break to feed or be changed, no worries! As a mother to four, and a newborn photographer who’s worked with hundreds of newborns, I know all about newborns and how they absolutely run the show in the family. I have many tips and tricks to help calm a fussy baby so even if your little one is having an off day, we will still get gorgeous images. You get to just focus on relaxing and cuddling with your sweet new addition and I will focus on creating images that you will cherish forever.

WHAT TO WEAR

Having the outfits and accessories of each family member in harmony will truly pull everything together during family portraits. Make sure to follow these tips to get the best out of your session. It’s good to have a few simple neutral colored onesies for your baby. I love capturing the simplicity of the baby and all they are without distracting outfits. With that being said, if you have an outfit you just love we can absolutely get a few images with it!

COLORS

Decide on a color scheme and stick to it. Keep your family’s favorite colors in mind (what color scheme is your home?) and try to coordinate the colors within the scheme. Don’t go for all one color for all family members, instead choose a couple of colors that are in harmony.

SOLIDS

Try to limit prints and patterns as much as possible. It might sound like fun to give dad a sweater with a funky print or let your little one wear their favorite character on their shirt, but these elements can be distracting and we want all the focus to be on the connection with your new baby.

BACKGROUND

Make sure your clothing choices will not blend into the background of your home. I am always available to chat about your wardrobe choices and can set up a video call beforehand to see your choices!

PREPPING YOUR HOME

Don’t stress about getting your home ready for our session. Life with a newborn is unpredictable and busy. Trying to get your home in tip top shape for me is not necessary. Having four kids myself, I know exactly how exhausting life with a baby can be! I typically just suggesting moving things out of the way in the rooms we’ll be using. If you want to remove items off of your coffee table and end tables for the session, that will help. Otherwise, I will just slide things out of the way as we move through your home. These images will showcase your love and emotion, not the background of your home.

I cant wait to meet your new baby! If you haven’t already booked your session, or if you have questions and are interested in learning more, click here so we can chat!
