How to prepare for your Maternity Session by your favorite maternity photographer
Congratulations! You’re pregnant and excited to capture this special time in your life! As a maternity photographer, I get great joy in giving you some special images to remember your pregnancy. Pregnancy is such a magical part of life. The first step in preparing for your maternity session is choosing the best maternity clothes dresses!
The best time to schedule your maternity session is between 34-36 weeks. This is when you’ll have a nice bump, but still be comfortable enough to move around freely for your session.
TO BEST PREPARE FOR YOUR SESSION THE FIRST THING TO DO IS CHOOSE WHAT YOU’LL WEAR FOR YOUR MATERNITY SESSION!
I love the gorgeous maternity gowns from amazon. They are super flattering and best of all… cheap! You don’t need to pay and arm and a leg for a dress you’ll likely wear once. This gown below is an Amazon gown!
Choosing what your partner and family will wear is next. Whoever will be in the session with you will need outfits that compliment yours. Choose colors that coordinate and try not to go with crazy patterns. I always suggest keeping it simple and neutral.
HAIR AND MAKEUP!
While it may be a treat have your hair & makeup professionally done for your photo session, it’s not something you HAVE to do. It is nice to pamper yourself and not have to worry about getting yourself all dolled up. If you are applying makeup yourself, it is always recommended to steer away from anything shiny (bronzer, glitter, etc.) when being photographed. A nice matte finish will come across best in photos. A little extra blush is good, and don’t forget the lipstick!
If you don’t usually wear make-up, that’s totally fine too. It is good idea to use some makeup just to enhance your features and avoid any shine.
Don’t forget your nails! You don’t have to splurge on a professional mani/pedi but its a good idea to paint on a nice solid color before your session!
LASTLY, CHOOSING A LOCATION FOR YOUR MATERNITY SESSION!
Choosing a location will vastly differ depending on what you want for your session. Do you see yourself with a beautiful field behind you, or a gorgeous lake and sunset? I have locations that offer both in one. We will chat about that during the booking process!
